How to Choose Your Site at Orange Sheep Campervan Park

Choosing the perfect spot can make your stay even more relaxing. At Orange Sheep Campervan Park in Franz Josef, we give guests the freedom to “stay their way” whether you prefer a quiet forest hideaway or a site close to the facilities. Here’s a guide to help you pick the best powered or non-powered site for your stay.

Powered Sites

We have 24 powered sites across the park, offering a mix of convenience, views, and privacy. Powered sites are reserved using the clipboard outside the office

Sites 1–11: Front of the Park

  • Closest to the front bathrooms, Laundromat and kitchen.

  • Easiest to navigate, especially for large motorhomes and caravans.

  • Lovely mountain views.

  • Most sites are separated by native bush for added privacy.

  • Sites 10 & 11 are perfect for two vans travelling together.

  • Sites 1 & 2 (in the carpark) suit very large caravans or late arrivals needing simple access.

Sites 12–24: Back of the Park

  • Close to the rear bathrooms, cooking area and lounge.

  • Generally quieter and more secluded.

  • Some sites require a little extra manoeuvring for bigger vehicles, but still manageable.

  • Sites 12 & 13 have some of the best mountain views.

  • Sites 21–24 sit in the Enchanted Forest, offering our most peaceful, nature-immersed powered sites.

Non-Powered Sites

Our non-powered area is flexible and suitable for all vehicle sizes. Non-powered sites are not reserved, guests can simply drive in and choose any available spot. If you leave and come back you may need to choose another site, there will always be one available.

The Loop

  • A mix of single and double sites.

  • Suitable for any vehicle.

  • When the park is busy, you may have a neighbour, especially near the facilities.

Hobbit Lane

  • Best for small vehicles only.

  • Quiet, sheltered, and with a walkway leading directly to the bathrooms.

Lakeside

  • Peaceful sites with lovely views.

  • Suitable for larger vehicles.

Punga Place

  • Located inside the Loop.

  • Fits most vehicles.

  • Convenient walkway to the bathrooms.

Enchanted Forest

  • The quietest part of the park.

  • Longer walk to the facilities, but rewarded with serenity.

  • Features its own covered picnic area and fresh-water sink.

Tent Sites

We don’t have a dedicated tenting area, but tent campers are welcome to set up on any non-powered site.

  • Sites are private and sheltered, though not grassed.

  • Works well for freestanding tents with sleeping mats.

  • Please avoid putting tents directly under trees.

  • There is a particularly nice tent spot just behind the lake.
